Marvin L. Emery, 82 of Wyoming, died Friday, November 7, 2008 at St. Mary’s Health Care. Marv was born April 30, 1926 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Lloyd and Edith (Lambert) Emery. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. He owned and operated Marv’s Barber Shop in Cedar Springs for 50 years. He was a member of the Cedar Springs American Legion, 40et8, Sand Lake VFW, Cedar Springs Rotary and Lions Club, Dorr Moose Lodge, Knights of Columbus 4th degree, and Cedar Springs Community Players. Marv was a past member of the Cedar Springs City Council and past chairman of the Red Flannel Committee. Surviving are 2 sons, Patrick (Rebecca) Emery of Wyoming, Michael (Christine) Emery of Comstock Park; 3 stepchildren, Michael (Linda) Huckleberry of Greenville, Toni (Patrick) Bush of Sand Lake, Carollee Olmstead of Trufant; 8 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; 1 sister-in-law, Agnes Emery of Seattle, WA. He was preceded in death by his wives, Tammy in 1991 and Shirley in 2002, 1 brother, Donald. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 11:00 am at Mary Queen of Apostle Church, Sand Lake. Rev. Fr. Joseph W. Kenshol celebrant. Interment Rosedale Memorial Gardens, Standale.
