Marjorie Grace Covell age 81 of Cedar Springs died Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family due to complications from Dementia. Marge was born September 30, 1941 in Detroit, MI the daughter of the late Cecil and Grace (Doherty) MacKinnon. She married Roy Covell on December 20, 1958 and was married for over 63 years until his death on June 21, 2022. Surviving are her children, Tim (Pam) Covell, Mark (Felomina) Covell, Cathy Jano; grandchildren, Heather (Ryan) Miller, Rachel (Mike) Wyma, Tyler Covell and fiancee, Jenna Zoerman, Christian Covell, Sophia Covell, Jakan Jano, Joelle Jano; several great grandchildren; sister, Carol Shier; in-laws, Leon Covell, Clyde (Peggy) Covell, Mack Covell, Keith (Sheri) Covell, George Cronk, Judy (Leon) Lang, Dorothy Bishop; many nieces, nephews and close friends. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Bill (Barb) MacKinnon, Jim MacKinnon; parents-in-law, George and Jeanice (Morehouse) Covell; in-laws, Avis Covell, Jeannie Cronk and Pete Shier. Marge graduated from Cedar Springs High School in 1959. She became a stay at home mom, raising three children. She and her husband, Roy purchased the grain elevator in Cedar Springs and operated it for 17 years. Marge was active in the Cedar Springs Women’s Club for over 40 years. She was a longtime member of United Methodist Church, Cedar Springs. Marge was a devoted grandmother who enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s athletic events. A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 27 at 11:00 am at the K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where the family will greet friends at 10:00 am. Pastor Michelle Vallier officiating. Interment has taken place at Elmwood Cemetery, Cedar Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church, 140 S. Main St. Cedar Springs.
