Marilyn J. Empie Mullennix

Marilyn J. Empie Mullennix age 86 of Cedar Springs died Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Mission Point of Cedar Springs. She was born June 9, 1937 in Sparta, MI the daughter of Leonard and Laural (Bunnel) Empie. She graduated from Sparta High School and Davenport College with a Bachelor degree with honors. Marilyn had been a co-pilot and member of the Civil Air Patrol. She played bingo and was a Michigan State Champion in cribbage. She enjoyed fishing, camping, the Detroit Tigers and Lions and the West Michigan Whitecaps. Surviving are her children, Leland (Christine) Mullennix, Stephanie Shepard, Matthew (Michelle) Mullennix, Danielle (Greg) DeMaso; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Leon Empie, Lyle Empie, Bernard Empie. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Kay Wheaton; grandchildren, Michael, Eric and Jessica; sisters, Rosalee, Barbara, Carol and Lois. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 12:00 pm Friday, January 26 at The Springs Church, 135 N. Grant St. Cedar Springs. Pastor JD Van Valin, officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Cedar Springs American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to The Springs Church Funeral Fund. Arrangements by K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs.
