Margaret L. Hackbardt age 81 of Howard City, passed away Thursday January 20, 2022 at Spectrum Health Hospital, Big Rapids surrounded by her family. She was born January 2, 1941 in East Detroit, MI the daughter of Vernon and Margaret (Kaufmann) Garlinghouse. She graduated from Howard City High School and loved being a wife and mother. Her community involvement included the Reynolds Township Library Board, Reynolds Township office and the 150th Howard City Celebration. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She also enjoyed sewing, making cards, scrapbooking, crochet and knitting. She and Al loved traveling including taking seven trips to Europe. Surviving are her husband of 30 years, Albert; children, Daniel (Kathy) Butler, John (Charlene) Butler, Leo (Tammy) Butler, Annette (Edward) Dow, Dawn (Steven) Wagoner, Marcella (Garr) Uram, Timothy (Michelle) Hackbardt; daughter-in-law, Deb Hackbardt; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; brother, Eugene Garlinghouse. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepson, Tom Hackbardt; brother, Robert Garlinghouse; step grandson, Kyle Boss. Interment will take place in Reynolds Township Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held in the spring.
