Lewis E. Chiles

Lewis E. Chiles, 84 of Newaygo, died Friday, February 26, 2010 at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus. Mr. Chiles was born February 9, 1926 in Newaygo, MI the son of Myrl and Doris (Tuttle) Chiles. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. He loved fishing, hunting and playing pool. He was a member of the Glen Hill American Legion Post. Surviving are his children, Gail (John) Meeuwes of Sand Lake, Mary Jo (Artie) Hill of Cadillac, Toni Rae (Tony Magoon) Chiles of Newaygo; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; brother, Dick (Pat) Chiles of Mississippi; sister-in-law, Marilyn Chiles of Cedar Springs; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; son, Donald; brothers, Duane and Brent; sister, Virginia Robinson. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held Tuesday 1:00 pm at Algoma Township Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard.
