Levi J. VanDenHout, age 48, passed away after more than a 20-year courageous and painful battle of cancer surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Trillium Woods Hospice Facility. He was born on April 4, 1973 in Grand Rapids, MI to Robert and Penny (Graham) VanDenHout, grew up in Cedar Springs, Michigan and graduated from Cedar Springs High School in 1991. He is survived by his wife, Stacey and their beautiful girls, Paige (13 years old) and Kara (10 years old) of Rockford, MI; mother, Penny VanDenHout; father, Robert (Leslie) VanDenHout; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Pamela and Michael Jalacki; brothers, Scott (Melanie) VanDenHout, Sean (Madeline) VanDenHout; brother-in-law, Christopher (Danielle) Jalacki. In addition, Levi is survived by his nieces and nephew he loved so dearly, Ashley (Anthony) Olivares, Lauren VanDenHout and Julia VanDenHout, TJ VanDenHout, and Riley and Madison Jalacki. Levi is also survived by his lifelong friends, Brent Ames, Roger Singleton, and Ron Fleese, who helped him in his most difficult days. Levi spent most of his adult life working for Waste Management who supported him up to the end. Levi will be remembered for his deep love of his daughters. He enjoyed exploring in nature and going on many outdoor adventures with them. Levi fondly remembers the family vacation to Walt Disney World where he watched his daughters dance on stage. In addition, Levi was a phenomenal artist and loved sketching the nature that he found on walks. He also was a talented musician and played the bass guitar and sang in many great bands around Grand Rapids. The family will receive visitors at Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, 13603 Northland Dr., NE, Cedar Springs on Sunday, July 25 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm. All are invited to a celebration of Levi’s life at The Springs Church, 135 N Grant Street, Cedar Springs on Monday, July 26 at 11:00am with Pastor Elice Davey officiating. The family will greet friends one hour before the service. Immediately following the church service, the family will go to the Algoma Cemetery for interment and then return to the church for a luncheon. The family hopes all will be able to join in this celebration. In lieu of flowers and abiding by Levi’s final wishes, the family has asked that you please consider a donation to Levi’s daughters future college education.
