Leon E. Barrenger

Leon E. Barrenger, 98 of Hardy Dam, Newaygo, died Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Metron of Cedar Springs. Mr. Barrenger was born May 26, 1916 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Roy and Bertha (Bates) Barrenger. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a tool and die maker working at General Motors 36th St. plant for 36 years. He was an outdoorsman and loved fishing, gardening and playing cards. Surviving are his children, Lynn “Butch” Barrenger, Gary (Terri) Barrenger, Judy (David) Grooters, Scott (Deb) Barrenger; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel; daughter, Dawn Cole; 1 grandson and 1 brother. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 11 at 12:30 pm at New Hope Lutheran Church, 3232 Port Sheldon Road, Hudsonville. Pastor David Rufner officiating.
