Leo “Skip” Bueche, Jr. 55 of Kent City passed away peacefully Monday, September 7, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with ALS. Skip was born June 2, 1954 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Leo and Geraldine (Serba) Bueche. He had a zest for life and he cherished the time spent with his family and friends. Those who knew him will remember him best as a gifted drummer, a devoted Notre Dame fan and an avid outdoorsman. He worked in customer service at Virginia Tile. Surviving are his wife Kathy, 5 children, Bridgett (Johnnie) Hamstra of Grandville, Branden “Bud” & Kim Bueche of Kentwood, Kendra & John Peot of Kent City, Amber West & Dan Nelson of East Lansing, Katie West & Brady Kent of Kent City; 7 grandchildren, Jackson, Logan, Gaby, Brooklynn, Blane, Conner and Averi; 4 sisters, Lynn (Brian) Marion of Arizonia, Laurie (Rob) Reynolds of Grand Rapids, Julie (Alan) Blumberg of Grand Rapids, Janet (Jeff) Warner of Alaska; mother-in-law, Alyce Mortensen. He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Jim Mortensen; and a grandson, Brandon Michael Bueche. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 pm and Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. The service will be held Thursday 11:00 am at Mamrelund Lutheran Church, Kent City with Pastor Leonard Dahlgren officiating. Interment Idlewild Cemetery, Kent City.
