Lawrence D. Reichelt 91 of Cedar Springs, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 9, 2012 at Spectrum Health – Blodgett Campus. Mr. Reichelt was born January 4, 1921 in Cedar Springs, MI the son of Daniel and Sylvia (Piper) Reichelt. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Italy and North Africa. He was a carpenter at Sparta Foundry where he retired after 30 years and was a farmer all of his life. He enjoyed his woodshop, making many things for others; loved music, and played with his brother at the area nursing homes; and enjoyed gardening, giving away much of the vegetables. He was an active member of South Ensley United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for over 40 years. Surviving are his children, Aaron Reichelt of Cedar Springs; Joann & Kevin Parker of Sand Lake; Rita Chambers & John Huffman of Cedar Springs; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother, Gordon & Ilene Reichelt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet in 2001; son-in-law, Gary Chambers; brother, Durward; sisters, Marjorie, Lena and Marie. The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. The service will be Tuesday 1:00 pm at South Ensley United Methodist Church. Pastors Darryl Miller and Duwayne Reichelt officiating. Interment Solon Township Cemetery. Memorials to Hospice of Michigan or South Ensley United Methodist Church.
