On May 17, 2022, the Lord brought home Kenneth William DeYoung. Ken was a witty, hard working and loving man whose life was driven by his love for Jesus, family and friends. Ken was born in Decatur, MI on August 19, 1939 to Anthony and Jennette (Lenger) DeYoung. He attended school at Wyoming Park and he married the love of his life, Diane (Conaty) DeYoung on June 23, 1962. Ken and Diane were happily married for (almost) 60 years and their marriage was filled with love, joy and a multitude of memories. Ken was a proud Army veteran and a retired truck driver with over 1 million safe miles traveled. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to shoot and hunt. Some of Ken’s specific passions included trap and skeet shooting and pheasant hunting. Ken was a member of the Kent County Conservation League, Caledonia Sportsman Club, American Legion of Caledonia and also taught Hunter’s Safety for many years. Ken was a faithful servant who sacrificed to serve others. Ken’s relationship with Jesus was the foundation of his life and he was a past member of Peace Reformed Church in Middleville, MI and most recently a member of Pine Grove Community Church in Howard City, MI. His faith directed his path and he was known to be a genuine and thoughtful man to all that he came into contact with. Ken was a resident of Pierson, MI and his wife Diane and he also enjoyed the warmer weather in Okeechobee, FL during the winter months. Spending time with friends, fishing, bike riding and golf cart rides were always a highlight. Ken was an excellent listener and a very loyal friend. Ken was preceded in death by his parents. He will be forever loved by his wife, Diane; children, Jodi (Pat) Byers and Lori (Tim) Miller; grandchildren, Zach (Sara) Byers, Meg (Cody) Day, Caleb (Jodi) Byers, Kaci (David) Paradis, Kyla (DJ) Beckman, Kendra (Luke) Landkamer, Rian DeYoung, Ross (Rachael) Miller, Jessica (Tyler) Miller, Breann (Sam) Rockafellow; great grandchildren, Vanderlae, Levallei, Wayd, Bowen, Annabelle, Lucy, Everlee, Ava, Carter, Harrison, Grant. He will also be lovingly remembered by his lifelong friend, Dave Bos. To celebrate Ken’s life the family will greet friends 12:00 pm Friday, May 20 until the 1:00 pm service at Pine Grove Community Church 8775 88th St. Howard City with a luncheon to follow. Private interment was held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice.
