Kenneth G. Baxter age 89 of Ensley Township, Newaygo went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 13, 2018. Mr. Baxter was born February 14, 1929 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Lyle and Bernice (Kolberg) Baxter. He graduated from Union High School in 1947 and served in the U.S. Marines as a Sergeant during the Korean War in Japan. He worked for Consumers Power Company for 44 years retiring in 1991 and was a strong union member. He was a charter member of the Madison Square Gun Club and was also a member of the Boat & Canoe Club #258. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a regular attendee of Grace Community Church in Howard City. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife of 66 years, Joyce Elaine (Nelson) who was his high school sweetheart; children, Mike (Gloria) Baxter, Kristie (Dean) Wall, Kimberly (Kim) Hackbardt; 9 grandchildren, Cory (Amanda) Wall, Zachary (Angie) Wall, Molly (Matt) Bogardus, Abraham (Katie) Baxter, Gabriel (Emily) Baxter, Nate (Kalli) Wall, Micah (Hannah) Baxter, Hanson Hackbardt, Hannah Hackbardt; 24 precious great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Irene Baxter and Scottie Baxter; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Gerald Baxter and Earl Baxter. The family will greet friends Sunday from 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. The service will be held Monday 11:00 am at Grace Community Church, 9920 Reed Road, Howard City with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Pastors Joel Cooper and Jorge Ballivian officiating. Military honors by the U.S. Marines. Interment North Ensley Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Community Church.
