Keith B. Pope Sr.

Keith B. Pope, Sr. age 87 of Cedar Springs, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Metro Health Hospital. He was a resident at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans for the last four years and the family thanks them and the staff at Metro Health Hospital for their great care. Keith was born April 27, 1932 in Sparta, MI the son of Carl and Marie (Cotton) Pope. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and camping with his wife. He was a beautiful woodcarver and an artist. Surviving are his children, Denise Smith, Keith (Dixie) Pope, Jr., Mark Pope, Bill (Angela) Pope, Duane Pope; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Delores Mack, Beverly (Bob) VanderHeide. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; son-in-law, Irvin Smith; brother, Ken Pope; sisters, Yvonne Adams, Joyce Hanna, Joan Curtis. The family will greet friends Thursday, August 8 from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Interment will be at Solon Township Cemetery with his beloved wife, Shirley. Military honors by the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Michigan Veterans Home.
