Josephine V. Heiss

Josephine V. Heiss, 93 of Grand Haven, formerly of Rockford, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at North Ottawa Community Hospital. Mrs. Heiss was born August 18, 1918 in Wallin, MI the daughter of Alvin and Lillian (Punches) Carrier. She worked at General Motors Alpine Plant retiring in 1980. She was a loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed. Surviving are her children, Jerry (Joyce) Heiss of Grand Haven, Linda (Robert) VanSlyke of Kentwood, Sandra (Bill) Taylor of Grandville; 8 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Barbara “Peggy” Civils of Grand Rapids; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert in 2003; brothers, Harold, Vernon and Sherwood Carrier; sister, Beverly Mosher. The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where services will be held Saturday 11:00 am. Rev. James Bowen officiating. Interment Solon Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
