Joseph H. Dzierwa, 80 of Sand Lake, died Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Faith Hospice – Trillium Woods. “Little Joe” was born November 20, 1927 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Albert and Inez (Otto) Dzierwa. He was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Dzierwa and a sister, Lorena Knapper. Surviving are 5 nieces and nephews, Gary & Judy Dzierwa of Rockford, Jim & Pam O’Neil of Rockford, Daniel O’Neil of Grand Rapids, Mary Jane & Fred Hitchcox of Portage, Inez & Sam Clugston of San Antonio, Texas; many great nieces and nephews. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and had been an installer and repairman for Michigan Bell for 37 years. He was a member of Mary Queen of Apostles and very active in the Knights of Columbus Council #8425 in Sand Lake. He was also a member of the Cedar Springs American Legion, the Sparta Moose Lodge, the Sand Lake Eagles and the Telecom Pioneers. Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday 10:00 am at Mary Queen of Apostles Church, Sand Lake. Rev. Fr. Joseph W. Kenshol celebrant. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery.
