John J. Frantz

John J. Frantz, 67 of Sand Lake, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. John was born December 22, 1949 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Elijah and Orie (Hall) Frantz. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had worked for Conrail and CSX Railroad retiring in 2010. He made friends everywhere and loved to help people. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and fixing things. He had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around. Surviving are his wife, Linda whom he married on May 17, 1975; children, Denny (Sherrie) Frantz, Thomas (Amy) Frantz, Kimberly Heeringa & David Jewell; adopted son, Billy Helton; grandchildren, John, Brandon and Krista Frantz, Kayla, Krystal and Austin Owens, Thomas, Georgia and Molly Frantz; brother, Gene (Joyce) Frantz; sister, Rosella (Phil) Shook; special friends, Shawn and Tammy Kain, Bill Cole and Jimmy Cole. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, William Frantz; sisters, June Pitt, Joyce Workman, Shirley Lent and Mae Southwell; special friend, Jim Cole Sr. The family will greet friends Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. There will be no funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
