Janice L. Van Hesteren

TribuCast Livestream link here Janice L. Van Hesteren age 82 passed away Monday, December 11, 2023 at Trinity Health St. Mary’s. She was born November 16, 1941 in DeWitt, MI the daughter of Kermit and Thelma (Livermore) Merlington. Janice taught History and English at Kent City Public Schools for 32years retiring in 1996. She loved history, traveling, gardening and was an avid reader. She was on the planning committee for the Nelson Township Library in Sand Lake. Surviving are her daughters, Courtney (Charles Ritchie) Cole, Andra (Benjamin) Longcore; grandchildren, Kamal, Kimball, Steven, Abram, Josephine and Oliver Longcore, Charlie and Sam Ritchie; brother, Ross (Kay) Merlington; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steven in 1994; brother, Kay Merlington; sister, Margaret Maksymowski. The family will greet friends Thursday from 5-7 pm at the K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where the service will be held Friday 12:00 pm. The family will greet friends Friday at 11:00 am. Interment East Nelson Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
