Janet M. Tanner

Janet Marie Tanner age 80 of Newaygo passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids. Janet was born December 26, 1941 in Grand Rapids, MI the daughter of Carl and Helen Parcher. She was educated at St. Andrews Elementary School and graduated from Catholic Central in the Class of 1959. Janet enjoyed being with family and friends, playing bingo, going to the casino, polka music, dancing and eating out. She worked at several jobs over the years but for the past 20 years she enjoyed being a part of the Grandmother Program at Grant Elementary. She enjoyed the children and being called Granny. She is survived by her niece, Debbie (Nick) Sauline; great nephew, Derek (Samantha) Sauline and their children, Haley and Owen; brother-in-law, Edward (Nola) Alberts and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Tanner and sister, Marilyn Alberts. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Newaygo on Tuesday, April 12 at 11 am with visitation from 10-11 am. Rev. Fr. Steve Geerling, Celebrant.
