James D. Wilcox, Sr.

James D. Wilcox Sr. 81 of Comstock Park went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at home with his family by his side. Mr. Wilcox was born March 31, 1935 in Ensley Township, MI the son of Fred and Mildred (Downing) Wilcox. He retired from Wolverine World Wide as a Plant Manager after 40 years. He had served on the board of North Park Baptist Church and had been an active member. He enjoyed hunting and sports. Surviving are his wife, Joyce; children, Linda (Duane) Maack, Joan Wilcox, Jackie (Scott) Egtvedt, James (Darcy) Wilcox Jr., Wayne (Annette) Wheeler, Susan Morris; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brother, Harvey (Scottie) Wilcox. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Delores; son, Gary Wheeler; brothers, Carmen and Robert Wilcox; sister, Susan Slachter. The family will greet friends Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. The service will be Friday 11:00 am at North Park Baptist Church, 3365 Coit Avenue, Grand Rapids. The family will greet friends at 10:00 am. Pastor Thomas Rohrer officiating.
