James Calvin Taylor, age 67 of Sparta was released and is now safe in the arms of his Lord and Savior, with his family by his side on Thursday, April 27, 2017. James was born August 17, 1949 in Lansing, MI the son of Kenneth and Mary (Anderson) Taylor. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Hazel (Montgomery) Taylor; daughter, Natalie (Matthew) Johns; step-son, Andrew (Jennifer) Walker; grandchildren, Nickolas and Gabriella Johns, and James and Jack Walker; step mother, Mary Lou Taylor; brothers, Kris (Kathy) Taylor and Charles Taylor; sister, Peggy (Taylor) Rykse; nephew, William Rykse; niece, Stephanie (Paul) Stewart; and great nephew and niece, Paul and Mary Stewart. He was preceded in death by his parents. A true man of God, James touched numerous lives with his love, compassion and above all, his faith. He will be remembered as a faithful servant to the Lord and for his love for his family and friends. A celebration of James’ life will be held at New Life Baptist Church, 840 Wilson Avenue, NW, Walker on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, with a visitation from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and service at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Preston Judd officiating. A luncheon at the church will immediately follow. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
