James "Jim" W. Hartman

James W. Hartman age 78 of Rockford died February 8, 2020 at Meijer Heart Center surrounded by his family. Jim was born September 15, 1941 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Benjamin and Edna (Stoddard) Hartman. Jim had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh that kept his family on their toes. He enjoyed being with his children and grandkids, spending time fishing, hunting, and being outdoors. Jim loved steam trains and John Deere tractors. He is survived by his loving wife Patsy (Mandler); children, Michael (Amy) Hartman and Jennifer (Jerry) Davis; grandchildren, Justin (Bayley) Davis, Jeff Davis, and Ava Hartman; brother, David Hartman; sister-in-law, Jackie (Doug) Wheeler; nephews, Scott (Lori) Wheeler and Patrick (Melinda) Wheeler. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Bonnie Mandler Ladegast. The family will greet friends Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. The funeral services will be held Wednesday 11:00 am at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 310 E. Division St., Rockford. Visitation will begin at 10 am. Rev. Jason Peterson, officiating. Interment Courtland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with expenses.
