James E. Goodall

The family of James Edwin Goodall is deeply saddened to announce his passing on Saturday, August 29, 2026 in Grand Rapids, MI after a long battle with CLL. Born on January 24, 1943 in Jackson, MI to Vivian Pauline Millard nee Ladd and Maurice Edwin Goodall, Jim lived a full and remarkable life. His quick wit and ready smile touched the hearts of everyone he met through his years of proud military service to the United States Air Force in Strategic Air Command, a career of over thirty years in healthcare, and as an active retiree in Florida. He loved camping and fishing and spent countless hours in parks throughout Michigan and many other states, always with his wife and a rescued dog by his side. 

He will be fondly remembered by his lovely wife of 65 years, Susan Kay Goodall nee Ward; children, Shawn Goodall, Brian Goodall (wife LuAnn), Sandra Cheslek (husband Brian); as well as grandchildren, Paul Goodall, Abagail Disselkoen (husband Tony), Vaughn, Wade and Ian Cheslek. He was preceded in death by both his parents; step-father John L Millard; parents in-law, Paul and Betty Ward nee Blair; and sister Marilyn Wilkins (husband Charles). 

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
