James L. Cooper

James LeRoy Cooper age 83 of Kent City, died Saturday, June 2, 2026 at Corewell Meijer Heart Hospital. He was born April 13, 1943 in Kent City, the son of Henry and Blanche (Uhrbrock) Cooper. James had a passion for being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming his cattle, corn and hay on his 80-acre farm. He loved to sing and play his guitar for friends and family.

He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Joyce Hosmer, Susan Latreille; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. James was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Linda in March of 2026.

The family will greet friends Friday, June 12 from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at Camp Lake Baptist Church, 12150 N. Division Avenue, Sparta. Pastor Dennis Tyson officiating. Interment Idlewild Cemetery, Kent City.
