James E. Brown (aka Uncle Jimmy, Red, Ralph), age 66, left his wife, family and friends for that majestic forest in heaven where he is reunited with his parents, Jim and Helen Brown, and nephew Spc. Timothy Brown and many dear friends. Jimmy led a happy, fulfilling life spending his free time with his loving family including wife Sarah, sisters Becky, Sue (Gary Millering) and Beth (Butch Saunders); brothers Emerson (Pam Brown), Tim (Cynthia Brown), Dave (Cindy Brown) and Dan; nieces and nephews including Kathy Smidstra, Josh (Joni) Brown, Cassie Brown, Ashley Saunders, Stevie Brown (Alan Page), Nicki (David) Howard, Alicia Brown, Justin (Eve) Saunders, Amanda (Kurt) Brown; great nieces and nephews including Anna Sheldon, Emily Brown (Jesse Hager), Nathan Brown (Reeba Grunwell), Kiki Bannister, Madison Biesiada, Landon Howard, Jackson Bannister, Austin Saunders, Miay’a Brown, Max Scott, Tristian Brown, Travis Brown, Jameson Heugel, Helen and Daisy Howard; his very special Auntie Anne and Uncle “Unc” Corkey Blanchard, cousins Annette, Amy and Alan and their families. Anyone who knew Jimmy appreciated his sarcastic humor which, if you were lucky enough to be the recipient of, you knew he cared about you. His favorite targets on this planet were his special “littles” mentioned above and it’s heartwarming (and sometimes annoying) that this legacy of sarcasm will carry on for generations to come (so beware). Jimmy was the original “Tree Hugger.” If you had a question about plants or trees, he was your go-to guy. Despite being a tree hugger, he loved woodworking and carving. He loved to spend time with friends and family on the golf course and was a member of the Riff Raff golf league at North Kent Golf Course. He loved to camp and spent time the last couple of summers at Crooked Lake in Jennings, Michigan. It’s not many who were fortunate enough to maintain friendships from childhood and high school but that was Jimmy. Those friends know who you are, and the family wants you to know how much he loved you and how much we all appreciate your places in his life. At Jimmy’s request, there will be no funeral services. A summer golf get together will be arranged to celebrate, laugh and remember the good times that he brought to our lives. Brownstown will never be quite the same, but Jimmy’s legacy will live on forever! Arrangements by K.E. Pike Funeral Home Cedar Springs.
