Ivan A. Nielsen age 90 of Rockford passed away Friday, September 16, 2022 at his home. The son of Vern and Lillian (Pritchard) Nielsen, he was born December 19, 1931 in Cedar Springs. After graduating from Cedar Springs High School in 1950, he proudly served in the United States Army (Germany). Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Ivan returned home and began a career in home construction culminating as owner of his own custom home building company. Upon retirement, he and his wife Phyllis enjoyed traveling around the U.S. in their motorhome and spent many winters in Apache Junction, AZ. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Phyllis; children, Deborah Nielsen, Diane Nielsen, Raymond Nielsen and Rodney (Teresa) Nielsen; grandchildren Austin Fohlbrook, Alex Fohlbrook, Tyler (Lindsey) Nielsen, Brandon Nielsen, Dylan Nielsen, Felicia (Joshua) Pike, A.J. Donati, Kassie (Charles) Daily; great grandson, Jensen Pike; brothers Walter Nielsen, Gene (Shirley) Nielsen; sister Karen Deyman; sister-in-law Sharon Nielsen; brothers-in-law Robert (Jan) Eldred, Keith (Diane) Eldred, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers J.C. Nielsen, Thorval (Bo) Nielsen, Victor Nielsen; sisters Arlene Burns, Nina Middleton. A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 20 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 pm at Courtland Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Courtland Township Fire Department or Rockford Ambulance.
