Ivan J. Cederquist, 81 of Shelby, formerly of Howard City, entered heaven’s gates on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at his daughter’s home in Greenville. Mr. Cederquist was born March 7, 1927 in Hart, MI the son of Sigurd & Minnie (Umstead) Cederquist. He was a medic in the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He worked for 31 years for General Motors retiring in 1982. Ivan built three of his own homes and helped build several of his childrens. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and playing the steel guitar. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in 1962 and loved to share his faith in God. Surviving are his wife Josephine, whom he married on November 19, 1949; 6 children, Theresa Larson of Coral, Norma Miller of Stanton, Karen Hoisington of Greenville, Dale (Kimberly) Cederquist of Rockford, Shirley (Rick) Snow of Greenville, and Paul (Lynn) Cederquist of Kentucky; 18 grandchildren, Jody (Troy) Small, Chad Larson, Shannon (Wayne), David, and Gretchen Miller, Jamie and Jenni Hosington (Roy), Brian (Jenni), David (Mindy), and Carrie Cederquist, Matt and Brad Gerred, Stephanie, Randy, Joshua, Eric, Kevin, and Jessica Cederquist; great grandchildren, Hailey, Justine, Zoe, Devin, Keygan and Titus; sister, Ruth (Neil) Cole; sisters-in-law, Florence Cederquist and Ruth Cederquist. The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. The funeral service will be held Saturday 11:00 am at Shelby Road Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Pastors Brian Cederquist and Bob McNeil officiating. Interment Hart Cemetery.
