Iva "Vonnie" Vaas

Iva LaVonne Vaas age 85 of Rockford went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 5, 2020. Vonnie was born July 5, 1935 in Ludington, MI the daughter of Sheldon and Johanna (Slaghter) Weaver. She was a foster parent to many children and was a stay at home mom. She enjoyed having coffee with her family and friends. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and surrendered her heart to Jesus Christ at an early age. She resided in Wyoming, MI and raised her family there and was a member of Newhall Reformed Church. She later attended church at Spencer Mills and Blythefield Hills Baptist Church. She started a widow’s group to support the ladies at Spencer Mills Church who had lost their husbands. She was a member of the Tea Cup Ladies at Blythefield. She was always smiling and enjoyed sending gifts and cards to her family. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and they all loved her. Surviving are her children, Chanda (James) Ignatoski, Donald (Tina) Vaas II, Jeffrey (Laura) Vaas; grandchildren, Joshua (Elizabeth) Vaas, Sarah (Guadalupe) Ponce, Rachel (Anthony) VanWoerkom, Michael (Jessica) Ignatoski, Kyle Ignatoski, Kirsten Vaas, Kelsey Vaas; great grandchildren, Isaiah, Eli, Charlotte, Isaac, Ezra, James and Bryn; siblings, Sharon (Fredrick) Kruithof, Steve (Debbie) Weaver. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; sister, Shelby Nyeholt. The family will greet friends Saturday, August 8 from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at Blythefield Hills Baptist Church, 6727 Kuttshill Dr, Rockford. Pastor Fredrick “Fritz” Kruithof officiating. Interment Spencer Mills Cemetery, Gowen. Memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice or Blythefield Hills Baptist Church.
