Irene T. Bowhuis

Irene T. Bowhuis age 78 of Rockford, died Tuesday, February 10. 2026 at Faith Hospice-Trillium Woods. She was born November 9, 1947, in Wurzberg, Germany, the daughter of Casmir and Emilia (Rasmus) Rockans. Irene had a degree in psychology but worked as an interior decorator for several years. She later worked at Healthcare Associates as a scheduler, where she was a great employee and friend to many. She married her husband, Bernie, and they enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and Vegas, where they stayed and made a life together. She never had children but embraced Ray and Carol’s son and grandchildren as her own. Irene was in a lot of pain later in life and will be happy to be in Heaven with her parents and husband.

She is survived by her long-time friends that she considered family, Ray and Carol Weidenfeller. Irene was preceded in death by her parents; and beloved husband of 26 years, Bernie Bowhuis.

Family will greet friends 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 21 at Algoma Baptist Church, 10515 Grange Ave NE, Rockford, MI 49341 with the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Officiating Pastor Dave Fernlund. Interment, Algoma Township Cemetery.
