Herman L. Sanders, Jr.

Herman L. Sanders, Jr. 87 of Cedar Springs, died Friday, July 14, 2006. Mr. Sanders was born January 31, 1919 in Cadillac, MI the son of Herman and Lily (Dassant) Sanders. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II and was a member of the Cedar Springs American Legion Post #287. He retired from C&O Railroad in Grand Rapids in 1985. Surviving are 2 daughters, Debra & Leland Bliss of Cedar Springs, Carole Fisher of Rockford; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; 1 sister, Marie Vukin of Ann Arbor; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ila; 2 sisters, Lorraine and Dorothy. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 11:00 am at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Pastor Tommy Turner officiating. Interment Stanwood Cemetery. Military honors by the Kent County Honor Guard.
