Henrietta “Rhetta” Buffinga age 90 passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Rest Haven Home and has gone to be with her Lord. Mrs. Buffinga was born September 22, 1926 in Grand Rapids, MI the daughter of Walter and Aria (Thom) Grotenhuis. She was a member of the “Three Nieces” who sang on The Children’s Bible Hour in its beginning years as well as with Dr. Louis Paul Lehman on the Bit of Heaven radio ministry as the “Grotenhuis Trio”. She was a longtime member of Calvary Church and active in the Missionary Couriers and serving in the Nursery. She was presently a member of Grandville Bible Church. She was a very supportive wife, and loving mother and grandmother. Surviving are her husband of 69 years, Jacob; children, Mary Jo (Tom) Kingshott, Barbara (Steve) Shattack, Jim Buffinga, Dan (Stacey) Buffinga; grandchildren, Amy (Matt) Nichols, Darren (Jill) Herweyer, Christine, Jeffrey and Carianne Rozelle, Stacie (Todd) Hicks; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Williams, Margaret Grondman, Joyce Borduine; sister-in-law, Marge Grotenhuis; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Grotenhuis and Louise Brown; brother, Walter Grotenhuis. The family will greet friends Thursday, April 13 from 1:30 pm until time of service at 2:30 pm at Rest Haven Home Chapel, 1424 Union NE, Grand Rapids. Please park and enter the building from Matilda Street. Pastor Tom Couch officiating. Interment Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. Memorial contributions may be made to Grandville Bible Church or Keys for Kids Ministries. Arrangements by Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs.
