Helen Jean Brown

Helen Jean Brown (Blanchard), of Cedar Springs, born May 14 1925 was called to be with her Lord on Friday, February 22, 2008. "Grandma Brown" was best known for being the founder of "Brownsville." Besides the love she had for her family and friends, she was an avid antique collector and those who knew her best will remember her by her tea tiles. She was also an animal lover and is sadly missed by her Fat Cat and her beloved Chihuahua, Tiny who was by her side until her last breath. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim and grandson Timmy Brown. She is survived by her brother Corkey and special sister-in-law Annie B., sister-in-law Jane Rittenhouse (Jerry), cousin Mary Morren, and several nieces and nephews spanning two generations. She was the mother of eight unique and devoted children and is survived by Sue Brown (Gary Millering), Becky Brown, Emerson (Pam) Brown, Tim (Cynthia) Brown, Jim (Amy) Brown, Dave (Cindy) Brown, Beth (Butch) Saunders, Dan Brown and fiancee` Carmen McNinch. Also surviving are twelve beloved grandchildren Kathy, Josh (Jackie), Cassie, Stevie, Ashley (Jason), Justin, Nicki, Alicia, Amanda, and Katie, and four great grandchildren Emily, Nathan, Kiki, and Madison. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, where services will be held Wednesday 11:00 am. Interment East Nelson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kent County Humane Society, the compassionate organization of Heartland Health Hospice, or the “Lest they be forgotten” Timmy Brown Memorial Fund.
