Gordon Henry Sheller

Gordon Henry Sheller, 74 of Cedar Springs, died Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Faith Hospice Trillium Woods. Mr. Sheller was born April 16, 1936 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Bainard and Carol (VanDuine) Sheller. He was a graduate of Cedar Springs High School Class of 1955 and had attended Alma College. He proudly served three years in the U.S. Marines. He had worked for Wolverine Cutter for over 30 years and retired from Diesel Technology in 2001. He loved his family and grandchildren and never missed a family event. He was a gold card member of the Casino Club and enjoyed bowling. Surviving are his wife, Sharon (Baxter) whom he married on July 25, 1959; two children, Deborah & Dutch Dougherty of Walker, Michael Gordon & Amanda Sheller of Allendale; grandchildren, Monica (Gregory) Vedders, Heather (Christopher) Woy, Joshua Michael Sheller, Jordan Michael Sheller; great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Zachary, and Mackenzie Vedders; brothers, Dale (Ann) Sheller, Bryon (Nancy) Smith; sister, Brenda Shaver; sisters-in-law, Shelia (Randy) Ingraham, and Billie Jo Garlick; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, William & Betty Baxter and many other loving family members. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, where services will be held Monday 11:00 am. Pastor Mary Ivanov officiating. Interment Rosedale Memorial Park, Grand Rapids with military honors conducted by the U.S. Marines. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
