Gordon R. Flanagan age 89 of Rockford, died Friday, November 22, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Gordy was born December 21, 1929 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Percy and Beatrice (Edwards) Flanagan. He served in the National Guard for three years. He owned and operated Flanagan Livestock Hauling for over 60 years. His dog, Spike was always by his side. Surviving are his children, Pat (Gerrit) Schut, Kathy Drew, Leo (Patty) Flanagan, Sharon (Charlie) Hieftje, Norm (Shelly) Flanagan, Patrick (Tina) Flanagan, Paul (Ann) Flanagan; 21 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren; siblings, Irene, Erma, Roger (Carol); many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn; children, Michael Flanagan, Beckie Washington; son-in-law, Gilbert Drew; granddaughter, Candace; great grandchildren, Kimberly and Jalen Robert; siblings, Bruce, Harvey, Lloyd, Barb, Waneta and Donna. The family will greet friends Tuesday from 3-5 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. A luncheon will follow at the Sand Lake VFW. Family interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Parnell. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
