Gerald Henry Collis, 85, passed peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2022 at The Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, North Carolina. He was born on November 10, 1936 in Knoxville, TN, to the late Thomas and Effie (Sharp) Collis. Although his heart never left his southern roots, Jerry’s home was in Michigan for more than six decades. His career in the restaurant business began as Director of Operations for Elias Brothers Big Boy. He went on to own and operate three Clock Restaurants throughout Michigan, eventually retiring in Cedar Springs. He loved traveling and spending time with his wife, Lois. For many years they wintered in Florida, competed in antique car shows. Jerry was a talented and recognized woodworking artist. Many of his intarsia pieces are displayed in homes and businesses throughout the United States. He enjoyed gardening and music, but he mostly loved fellowship with family and friends. Jerry was a man of strong faith and a longtime member of Cedar Springs United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lois; children, Vicki Johnson-Becker, and Gregory Collis; brothers, Fred, Bill and Carl; sisters, Thelma, Juanita and Geneva. Survivors include sister, June Hammer; daughters, Kathy (Tom) Hill, Rebecca Collis, Kim (Steve) Anderson; grandchildren, Justin Collis, Audrea (Tom) DeLong, Jacob Johnson, Jessica (Matt) Poling, Brandon Rhinehart, Ryan (Sarah) Nazionale, Randy (Elizabeth) Nazionale, Renee (Lee) Radin, Billy (Amber) Hill and Kyle Hill; and great grand-children Leigha, Eli, Thomas, Esch, Mason, Teagan, and Ava. He was a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews The family will greet friends Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 11:00 am until time of service at 12:00 noon at the K.E.
