George K. Williams age 87 of Cedar Springs, passed away Friday, December 3, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Williams was born March 5, 1934 in Leroy, MI the son of Wilford and Marvel (Bennett) Williams. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 – 58. He worked for Smith Industry (formerly Lear Siegler) for over 30 years thru which he helped Apollo 2 get to the moon. George liked tinkering, puttering with things, bird watching and looking for four leaf clovers. He enjoyed making people laugh, especially if he was meeting you for the first time. Surviving are his wife, Helen; daughters, Lynn (Bruce) Marvel, Shonda Horter; grandchildren, Allyson (Drew) French, Brayden Marvel, Bryce Marvel; sister-in-law, Jean Williams; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marjorie (Carl) Baker, Irene (Charles) Fewless; brothers, Glen Williams and Dale (Ardath) Williams. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 18 at 11:00 am at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 4714 13 Mile Road, Rockford. The family will greet friends and relatives at 10:00 am.
