George Henry Anthony age 83 of Cedar Springs died Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was born February 3, 1940 in Taylor, MI the son of Henry and Myrtle (Wagenchute) Anthony. George was in the Marines for 10 ½ years and full-time with the Michigan National Guard for 22 years. He stayed in Michigan and was a Supply Sergeant for Desert Storm, even though he wanted to be there. George enjoyed putzing around, hunting, fishing, camping and woodworking. He also liked tinkering with tractors and lawnmowers. George loved all children and dogs but his grandchildren were his favorite. Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, Io; daughters, Laurie (Gerald) Reid, Diana (Glen) Roberts, Michelle (Don) Youngs, Kay (Richard) Cole, Joyce McCullum; grandchildren, Theresa, Andrew, Anna, Lindy, Kira, Corban, Shanae, Eric, Lisa, Kari, James, Alonzo, Tina; great grandchildren, Lincoln, Emerson “Emmy”, Branwyn, Dallen George, Declan. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Anthony; sisters, Janna Mae Penny; Betty Lou Bucholtz-Seabolt, Dorothy June Robbins; sons, Alonzo “Lonnie” Anthony, Jeffery Bahmer. The family will greet friends Monday, November 27 at 11:00 am until time of the funeral at noon at Pierson Bible Church 101 Grand Pierson, MI. Pastor Jorge Ballivian officiating.
