Gary R. Stewart

Gary R. Stewart age 78 of Rockford, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 17, 2019. Gary was born June 20, 1940 in Kalamazoo, MI the son of Ralph and Pearl (Smith) Stewart. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and Western Michigan University. Gary served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was faithful in service to his Savior as a band director in Parchment; Christian School Administrator in Terre Haute, IN, Kalamazoo and Rockford; and Associate Pastor in Kalamazoo and Port Huron. He enjoyed playing the baritone in the Grace Gospel Band and church orchestra. He loved his family dearly and prayed for them faithfully. Surviving are his wife, Judy; sons, Scott (Sheila) Stewart, Dan (Nancy) Stewart; grandchildren, Jon, Marc, Caleb, Katelyn (Eric) Williams, Tyler (Alina), Jamin, Kenan, Naomi, Cecelia; great grandchildren, Liam, Judah, Callum Williams; sister, Carole (Bob) Wolters; one niece and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David; grandson, Isaac. The family will greet friends Friday, May 24 from 5-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Visitation will continue Saturday, May 25 from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at Blythefield Hills Baptist Church, 6727 Kuttshill Dr., Rockford. Pastors Dan Stewart and Don Pearson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Blythefield Hills Baptist Church or Faith Hospice.
