Gail Maureen Armstrong, age 69 of Sand Lake MI, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025. Born July 21, 1955 to Mac and Marjorie (Bird) Bailey and raised in Cedar Springs, she loved her hometown. She could name the people and their acts of kindness from every part of the community and on each street she delivered mail to as a rural route carrier for 30 years. She loved people and saw the good in everyone. Her compassion and concern for others was a life-theme and, in fact, if you’re reading this, there’s a very good chance she spent time praying for you by name - she cheered wholeheartedly for you. And it melted her heart that you would pray for her too. After retiring from being a mail carrier, she spent several years as a driver’s ed instructor, giving her all to prepare new drivers. Indeed, she gave her all in everything she did. She never shied away from growth through a challenge. Gail was intensely determined, surpassingly kind, and embraced grace beyond reason. She was a selfless mom. She did not want to take credit for any of her traits because she recognized the good could only be from the mercy of the Holy Spirit in her. Gail is a humble and kind soul whose sincere encouragement touched many, especially her kids and grandkids. She sacrificed herself in countless ways to make a difference to others, intentionally create memories, and share blessings. As she would say, “My cup runneth over.” She will be missed deeply by her church family at Calvary Baptist of Greenville; her siblings Terry Fountain, Judy (Jim) Owens, Betty Towns, Gil Bailey; and brothers-in-law, Joe DeWildt and Brian Longcore; her extended family, friends and loved ones; and most of all, by her kids Aaron (Missy) Armstrong, Holly (Troy) Anderson, Sara (Jeremiah) Gitchel, Lee (Lindsey) Armstrong; grandchildren Austin (Julia), Dawson (Ashley), Casen, Quaden (Brenna), Brody, Ryker, Léda, Isaac, Avery, Eden, Judson, Porter, and Brecken; great-grandchildren Stella, Arbor, Ridge, Drew, and Elia. Gail is preceded in death by her dedicated husband of 45 years Lonnie, her beloved sisters Sharon DeWildt and Ann Longcore, and her faithful parents. She was an enthusiastic fan of adventures and was excited to share that her destination is assuredly known - She embraced paradise with faith and love that overflows. Well done. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 7 at 12:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 12501 Montcalm Road, Greenville, MI 48838. The family will greet friends at 11:00 am. Pastor Mark Shaw officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Assure Women’s Center, 61 N. First St, Cedar Springs, MI 49319. Arrangements by K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs.
