Fred H. Mayo Iii

Fred H. Mayo III age 87 of Stanwood passed away, Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Corewell Health Big Rapids. He was born January 16, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of Fred and Marian (Warner) Mayo II. He was raised by his stepfather, Charles Smith Sr. from the age of two. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing his guitar and singing. Fred was always willing to help others as a mechanic or fix-it man. Surviving are his wife, Sandy, who he married on July 20, 1957; children, Timothy (Amanda) Mayo, Thomas Mayo, Robert Mayo, Kerri Mayo; grandchildren, Brianna, Hannah, Emilee, Colin, Elijah, Cassidy; brothers, Chuck (Tonnie) Smith, Jack (Alice) Smith; his best friend of 70 years, Al (Dale) Alexander. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather and five sisters. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Private interment at Elmwood Cemetery, Cedar Springs. Arrangements by K.E.
