Ferdinand T. Bricault, 89 of Cedar Springs, passed on to eternal life on Saturday, October 18, 2008 in Grand Rapids. Ferd was born August 22, 1919 in Saginaw, MI the son of Raymond and Anna (Zito) Bricault. He graduated from Mt. Carmel Catholic School in Saginaw in 1937, and worked for A&P Stores as a meat cutter after school hours. He worked for Saginaw Steering Gear at the outbreak of WWII making 50 caliber machine guns. Ferd joined the U.S. Navy on August 13, 1942 and became an Aviation Machinist Mate 3rd Class. He worked on SBD-3 Douglas Dauntless Dive Bombers and was stationed on board two different aircraft carriers; USS Monterey and the USS San Jacinto at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He was married to Beverly I. Craig in Flint, MI on February 15, 1956. They lived in Saginaw and in 1960 moved to Grand Rapids. He worked for and had retired from Monumental Life Insurance Company as a salesman and office manager. He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly in 1992; his parents; 4 brothers, William, Jerome, Eugene, and Robert; 1 sister, Loraine Owens. Surviving are 3 children, Terry (Gert) Herron, Michael (Cindy) Bricault, Kathryn (Allen) Bricault-Peckham; 2 stepsons, Thomas Hughes and Edwin Hughes; 7 grandchildren, Michael Jr., Lisa, Brittany, Noel, Robbie, Patricia, Melissa; 12 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Lucille (Ben) Camaro; 3 brothers, Ray, Richard (Helen), David; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday 11:00 at Mary Queen of Apostles, Sand Lake. Rev. Fr. Joseph W. Kenshol celebrant. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
