Evelyn "Tizzie" Townes

Evelyn “Tizzie” Townes, 92 of Cedar Springs, died Friday, June 15, 2007 at Metron of Cedar Springs. Tizzie was born September 30, 1914 in Courtland Township, MI the daughter of Percy and Flossie (Robinson) Phelps. She graduated Cedar Springs High School Class of 1932 and attended the East Nelson United Methodist Church. Surviving are 2 daughters, Carol Townes of Cedar Springs, Alice (Robert) Peterson of Casnovia; 4 grandchildren, Glenn Ebelt, Fritz Ebelt, Laura (Jeff) Mack, Daryell Peterson; 5 great grandchildren, Christine, Julia, Michael, Seth and Nathan; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Daryell “Dud” Townes, daughter, Ruth Ebelt and a sister, Dorothy Smith. The family would like to thank Metron of Cedar Springs and Hospice of Michigan for their wonderful care. The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, www.blisswitterspike.com where services will be held Tuesday 11:00 am.
