Evelyn A. Lehnert, 85 of Sand Lake passed away Saturday, March 4, 2006 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Lehnert was born July 13, 1920 in Comstock Park, MI the daughter of Henry and Abbie (Momber) Zimmer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Edgar in 1999. She was a longtime and active member of Mary Queen of Apostle Church, Sand Lake. She was an avid gardener and provided the flowers for Mass at church. She was a member of the Farm Bureau and a 50 year member of the Ensley Grange. She grew up a farmer’s daughter and enjoyed being a farmer’s wife. Surviving are 6 children and their spouses, Richard & Elaine Lehnert of Trufant, Elaine & Paul Pietrzyk of Plymouth, Judith & George Monroe of Dearborn, Donald & Betty Lehnert of Sand Lake, Edgar Lehnert of Hersey, Diane & Gary Mock of Indiana; 11 grandchildren, Ahren, Matthew, Marc, Kate, Ellie, Cliff, Matthew, Anne, Donovan, Dustin and Valerie; 1 sister, Agnes VanOeffelen of Comstock Park; 1 brother, Robert & Lilly Zimmer of Comstock Park; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a sister Viola Finkler. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 pm and Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, where a church Rosary will be said at 3:30 pm and a family Rosary at 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 11:00 am at Mary Queen of Apostle Church. Rev. Fr. Joseph Kenshol celebrant. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sand Lake.
