Evelyn Ruth (Dingman) Fisk, 94 of Cedar Springs, went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by family on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Mission Point of Cedar Springs. The daughter of Clifford & Ethel (Borgman) Dingman, Evelyn was born in Grand Rapids on August 25, 1929. She married Ronald Roger Fisk on September 27, 1947, in Cedar Springs. Originally a city girl and working at Woolworth’s, Evelyn was brought to the country by her uncle where she met Ronald, married, and embraced country life. She tended a huge garden, washed clothes with a wringer washer, baked bread, canned and supported Ronald on the farm all while raising three children and several foster children as well. Evelyn also worked at the local Keeler Brass Company for a time saving enough money to build their first home. She later worked in a nursing home in Sparta, and in her later years before macular degeneration and glaucoma challenged her sight, she loved crafting, decorating her home and surrounding it with beautiful flowers and hanging baskets. She was a member of Frost Creek Church (fka Solon Center Wesleyan) since 1973 where she served her Lord faithfully in several capacities, namely teaching first grade Sunday School classes. She loved and faithfully served her family and enjoyed the many visits from grandchildren and great grandchildren alike. Evelyn is survived by her children Allan (Beth) Fisk, David (Kathy) Fisk, Kathy (Roy) Mabie; foster son, David (Kelly) Eek; 12 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren, one cousin, several nieces and nephews, her loving roommate and husband Sue & Ron Barwacz. She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald, father Clifford Dingman, mother Ethel Beatty, stepfather Edward Beatty. A special thank you to the loving caregivers of Corewell Health Hospice and Mission Point of Cedar Springs. The family will greet friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm Monday, Sept. 18 at Frost Creek Church 15671 Algoma Ave. Cedar Springs where the funeral service will be 1:00 pm Tuesday. Pastor Dylan Mason, officiating.
