Elwin D. Tindall, 91 of Gowen, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at his home. Elwin was born July 7, 1918 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Carl and Louella (Stout) Tindall. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Force in England. He was a member of the 386 Bomb Group and flew 69 missions over enemy territory. He was wounded once and awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Cedar Springs American Legion and the Creston VFW Post. He attended East Nelson United Methodist Church, was very well liked, and had a good sense of humor. Surviving are his wife, Shirley (Blanton) whom he married on January 18, 1947; 2 sons, Randy (Lynn) Tindall of Holland, Rich (Barb) Tindall of Lowell; 4 grandchildren, Kurt (Jill) Tindall, Sarah Rienks, Dana (Clint) Dickinson, Richie (Ashley) Tindall; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Gross of Grand Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, David Tindall. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Interment with military honors at East Nelson Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Hospice.
