Ellen A. Heiss

Ellen Anna Catherine Heiss age 98 of Sand Lake, passed away peacefully at her family farm on Thursday, August 1, 2019. She was born July 31, 1921 in Grand Marais, MI the daughter of Matt and Ida (Koski) Olli. She married Otto Heiss on June 28, 1937. Together they settled and raised six wonderful children on their farm in Sand Lake. Ellen enjoyed nature, cooking, game shows and her beloved Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. Her family was her pride and joy. Surviving are her children, Phillip (Winifred) Heiss of Lakewood, CA, Kathleen Zersen of Cedar Springs, Dianne Howell of Pierson, Loretta Goodin of Sand Lake, Michael (Julie) Heiss of Lakeland, FL; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Heiss of Cedar Springs; 12 grandchildren, Cliff Heiss, Michelle Heller, Sheldon Swanson, Todd Heiss, Paul Goodin, Jamie Coplin, Catherine King, Bridget Shanley, Darla Proseus, Michael Heiss, Diana Goodin, Charles Heiss; numerous great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Lator; sister-in-law, Betty Heiss; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Otto; sons, Edwin, Gordon and Paul; beloved siblings and sisters and brothers-in-law. The family will greet friends Sunday from 2-4 at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where the service will be held Monday 11:00 am. Visitation will begin Monday 10:00 am.
