View Photo Tribute Elizabeth L. “Betty” Maxson, 67 of Spencer Township, Sand Lake, died Monday, March 5, 2007 at her home. Betty was born April 10, 1939 in Benton Harbor, MI the daughter of Louis and Mae (Varnau) Schuh, Sr. She was a bus driver and cook at Lakeview Public Schools for 32 years and had worked as the night manager at Jorgensen’s in Greenville until it closed. She was a member at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Trufant for over 40 years. Betty loved life, people and laughing. Her high school yearbook said, “A giggle a day kept her happy.” Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Noel; 5 children, Garrett Maxson, Fondalete & Kenneth duChemin, Brenda & Steve Norvell, Amy Maxson & Mark Roberts, Eric & Elizabeth Maxson; 17 grandchildren, Fawn, Amber, Roberta, Nicole, Miranda, Jacob, Will, Derek, Todd, Molly, Erica, Jessica, John, Cassie, Garrett, Ashley, Daniel; 8 great grandchildren, Britney, Leah, Josh, Emily, Haley, Dylan, Addie, Mason; 2 sisters, Shirley & Marvin Bruursema, GeorgeAnn & Mike Johnson; 1 brother, Lester Decker; 1 aunt, Geraldine Varnau; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Louis Schuh, Jr. and James Decker; 1 sister-in-law, Sandra Decker. The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, www.blisswitterspike.com and Saturday from 12 Noon until time of service at 1:00 pm at the Funeral Home. Pastor Aaron Sorrels officiating. Interment Spencer Mills Cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to Lakeview High School Athletic Department.
