Douglas A. Haskell, 49 of Rockford, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 8, 2007. He was born December 29, 1957 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Basil and Lucy (Goodell) Haskell. Doug was a very loving husband, brother, son, dad, and most of all friend to all he met. Confined to a wheelchair for over 20 years, you would never hear him complain. He was always upbeat, happy and encouraging others. Doug was always looking for and taking every opportunity to help others. He was in the middle of a task for a friend when the Lord called him home. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Connie; children, Matthew (Jennifer), Scot (Karisia); grandchildren, Sylar, Logan, Douglas, Xander, and Isaiah; mother and step-father, Lucy and Arden Layman; mother and father-in-law, James and Betty Rawson; brother, Mike (Dawn); sisters, Nancy (Larry), and Patty (Alex); brothers-in-law, Jim (Vivian), Duane (Lori), Calvin (Delia); sister-in-law, Debra (Mike); numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his father. A private family burial and committal service has taken place at Courtland Township Cemetery, Rockford. A memorial service will be held at Green Corners Baptist Church, Belding, (M44 and Johnson Road), on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Paul Leslie officiating.
