Donna J. Newman

Donna Jean Newman age 86 of Cedar Springs passed away peacefully on Friday, June 16, 2023 at home. She was born on December 6, 1936 in Elgin, IL the daughter of Roy and Gladys (Hall) Martin. She worked for Corduroy Rubber for 25 years and Speedway for 20 years. She loved working with youth and all animals. She was president of the Red Flannel Saddle Club and MIHA coach for Cedar Springs High School for 17 years. Donna was a leader for Campfire Girls and 4H, she was involved in Special Olympics and the Children’s Miracle Network. She was a member of the Rockford Sportsman’s Club and the PTA. She enjoyed dancing, music and loved ice cream. She was always happy, positive and had a smile on her face. Surviving are her children, Debra Wagoner, Diana Newman, James (Jana) Newman, Dawn Newman, Dana Newman; grandchildren, Dan, Lynda, Tabitha, Tonia, Jake, Jordan, Jared, Savannah, Alexis, Morgan, Nya; 9 great grandchildren with 2 on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Newman in 2003. The family would like to thank the Sarahcare Knapp Corner team and the Faith Hospice team, especially Molly, Monica, Kaila and Chaplain Cecilio for all the love and comfort they showed in her final months. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 20 from 6-8 pm at the K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where the service will be held Wednesday 11:00 am. Visitation will begin Wednesday at 10:00 am.
