Donald VanDyke, age 92, entered into his heavenly home Monday, August 25, 2025 at The Brook of Cedar Springs. He was born December 5, 1932 in Grand Rapids, the youngest of six children of John and Winifred (VandenBrink) VanDyke. Don worked for 42 years at Alofs Manufacturing, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed many years of retirement traveling with his wife (and often Bob and Ruth Maxwell), camping throughout the country but mostly enjoyed being in Michigan and his home on Upper Lake. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and always had a couple beagles that joined him rabbit hunting. At the age of 75 he shot two, eight-point bucks within minutes of each other. Don felt his greatest accomplishment was marrying his wife, Winifred, making a good life together and then celebrating their 70th anniversary this past December. He became a Christian in 1967 and was a member of Cedar Springs Baptist Church.
Left to cherish Don’s memory is his beloved wife, Win; children, Randy, Ron, and Cherri (Pete); grandchildren, Nicole (Nate), Scott (Sarah), Audrey (Joel), Trevor (Claire), Derek, Dustin, and Tina; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; in-laws, Frank and Judene Maxwell, RuthAnn Maxwell. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Jake (Birdie), Joe (Nancy), George, Marie (Bob), Marv; in-laws, Jean (Bob), Bob; and daughter-in-law, Chris.
The family will greet friends Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 29 at the funeral home.
