Donald J. Vandenberg

Donald J. VandenBerg age 86 of Sand Lake, died Sunday, February 17, 2019 at the Grand Rapids Home for the Veterans. Don was born September 18, 1932 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of John and Dorothy (Reitman) VandenBerg. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1952-54 and retired from Dykema Excavating. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, JoAnn (Flynn Hiler); children, Michael Hiler, Cynthia (Rick) Dubay, Kim (Susan) Hiler, John (Christine) VandenBerg, DJ (Melanie) VandenBerg; 36 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; brother, Robert (Pam) VandenBerg; step brother, Jerry (Pat) Sorenson; step sister, Betty (Bob) Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kelli Hiler; sister-in-law, Elaine Rogers VandenBerg; niece, Katie VandenBerg; great grandson, Deegan. The family will greet friends Friday, March 1 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. The service will be Saturday, March 2 at 11:00 am at the Pierson Bible Church Community Room. Pastor Jeffrey Wallace officiating. Interment in the summer at Crandall Cemetery.
