Donald F. Trudell, 82 of Cedar Springs, died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Laurels of Carson City. Mr. Trudell was born June 12, 1933 in Sparta, MI the son of Clarence and Bernadette (Arends) Trudell. Don studied painting and drawing and graduated from Kendall School of Design. He worked for Aves Advertising in Grand Rapids and then formed his own design studio, Trudell Design. He was best known for his creative watercolor effects and capturing the splendor of winter snow scenes, fall landscapes, summer seascapes and “any-season” florals. Numerous Michigan Galleries have exhibited Trudell’s paintings as well as summer art fairs in Michigan and the east coast. His works are part of many private collections. Surviving are his wife, Mary (VanderWerff); daughter, Vicky Trudell; sister, Rita Martin; brother, Theodore Trudell; special foster sons, Shawn and Raymond; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Trudell, Patricia VanderWerff; brothers-in-law, Lester Zahm, Francis (Norma) VanderWerff, Godfrey (Geraldine) VanderWerff; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Trudell; sister, Elizabeth Zahm. The family will greet friends Friday from 5-7 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday 10:30 am at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, Cedar Springs. Rev. Fr. Lam Le celebrant. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Grand Rapids.
